Reform Party Chair Sliwa:
Brooklyn needs him as Councilman Capano
Bob Capano, a fighter for reform and the leading Republican City Council Candidate for the 43rd District (Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach), was endorsed today by the New York State Reform Party. Their backing makes Capano the first candidate in the highly contested GOP Primary for the 43rd C.D. race to receive the backing of another political party and the ballot line that goes with it. Curtis Sliwa, Chair of the NYS Reform Party said, “Citizen Capano has been on the front lines loudly and proudly fighting against the radical policies of Bill de Blasio and Melissa Mark-Viverito; now Brooklyn needs him as Councilman Capano.”
The Reform Party became a recognized political party in New York State in the wake of the 2014 governor’s race. Curtis Sliwa was elected Chairman in 2016.
Curtis Sliwa, Chairman of the NYS Reform Party said, “When we looked at all of the candidates for this race, one candidate stood out as not being part of the status quo political establishment- Bob Capano. Unlike many of the others, who have only collected a salary on the taxpayers’ dime, Bob works in the real world managing a business.
“I have known Bob for many years and he does not care about political correctness, and will not be wined, dined, and pocket lined by the political elites and special interests. Citizen Capano has been on the front lines loudly and proudly fighting against the radical policies of Bill de Blasio and Melissa Mark-Viverito; now Brooklyn needs him as Councilman Capano.”
City Council candidate Bob Capano said, “I want to thank Chairman Curtis Sliwa and the Reform Party leaders and members for their confidence in me and their endorsement today. In the weeks and months ahead I’ll be a vocal advocate for their principles and policies as I campaign throughout the 43rd Council District.
“For far too long our city and state have been under the thumb of the special interests; the the political bosses, the lobbyists and the business as usual crowd, who place their interests and concerns before those of the voters and the taxpayers. It’s time this cynical system of government came to an end. In the City Council I’ll fight for transparency and for returning government to the people who pay for it; the taxpayers of our great city.”
NYS Reform Party spokesman Frank Morano said, “In a race with many good candidates, Bob Capano stands head and shoulders above the rest. His dedication to public service, passion for civic affairs and tireless work ethic make him a great choice for Brooklyn and we’d be lucky to have him in the City Council.”
